Don’t you see that children are God’s best gift? the fruit of the womb his generous legacy? Like a warrior’s fistful of arrows are the children of a vigorous youth.Oh, how blessed are you parents, with your quivers full of children!
Psalm 127.3-5

I have been noticing this face on my son often leads to a smirk and then a sprint. Running away from something he knew he shouldn’t do or towards something he knows he shouldn’t where it becomes a foot race to said item.

I have wondered how his mind works often, why he does what he does, and why he doesn’t. Why he wants to do certain things and not others. His differences have the potential to both amaze and frustrate, and His likenesses the same.

I have noticed that not much changes throughout life in this way especially the earlier stages. And for parents of teenagers, this becomes amplified or at least it feels that way during these years. One writer compares that time in parenting to an earthquake, and for all those going through this earthquake full of smirks and questions …. I remind and encourage you (and myself as I go about my novice parenting with B) of … Psalm 127…. Our children truly are God best gift and remain one of his best gifts. God values them highly and so must we.
